I have listed some common medications below and described their purpose (i.e. what they treat).
Statins

Osteoporosis medications
- Bisphosphonates (slow the rate of bone brakedown) e.g. Alendronic acid
- Calcium supplements e.g. calci chew
- Vitamin D supplements
- Selective Oestrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs) - maintain bone density e.g. Raloxifene
- HRT (for menopausal women)

- ACE inhibitors --> lisinopril and ramipril
- Calcium channel blockers e.g. amlodipine
- Beta-blockers --> atenolol and bisoprolol
Diabetes (Type 2)
- Metformin
- Sulphonylureas e.g. Daonil
- Alpha glucosidase inhibitor (Acarbose) e.g. Glucobay
- Prandial glucose regulators e.g. Prandin and Starlix
- Thiazolidinediones (glitazones) e.g. Actos and Competact
- GLP-1's (incretin mimetics) e.g. Byetta
- DPP-4 inhibitors (gliptins) e.g. Januvia
- SGLT2 inhibitors e.g. Forxiga
Stomach-protecting medications
- Omeprazole
- Lansoprazole
- Pantoprazole
Anti-neuropathic medications
- Gabapentin
- Amitriptyline
Methotrexate
- Taken by individuals with Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriasis (and psoriatic arthritis) and Crohn's disease
- Immunosupressant
Steroids
